Trump Mocks Mitch McConnell for Endorsing Him, Then Forgets Where He Is

Trump told North Carolina voters Sunday evening, just two days before the upcoming presidential election that could return him to the White House, that he thought Al Capone was "lovely" and their senatorial candidate was a superior choice.

Donald Trump appeared to be feeling the strain of a busy campaign schedule Sunday, apparently forgetting which state he was in during one of his speeches. During a rally in Kinston, North Carolina, the former president said he hoped “we get rid of Mitch McConnell pretty soon,” mocking the Senate minority leader for having endorsed him back in March. “Can you believe he endorsed me?” Trump said with a chuckle. “Boy, that must have been a painful day in his life!” Trump then followed up the insult by saying there are still “great Republicans” running for office. “You have one of the best of all right here: David McCormick,” he told the North Carolina crowd, referring to the Senate candidate running in Pennsylvania—where Trump had been earlier in the day. “Where’s David?” Trump continued. “Is he around someplace? You know we just left him—he’s a great guy.”

The problem with this comment was pointed out by Democratic pollster and strategist Matt McDermott.

"Yikes," wrote McDermott. "Trump, at a rally in North Carolina, shouts out David McCormick — who’s running for Senate in Pennsylvania. He seems to really be struggling mentally."

McCormick is indeed the conservative candidate running in Pennsylvania against incumbent Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat.

North Carolina senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd, both Republicans, are not up for reelection this year.

The North Carolina race garnering national attention is that of conservative gubernatorial candidate Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R), who was linked to pro-Nazi and pro-slavery comments on a porn site by CNN.

The Hill opinion writer Mary Anna Mancuso said Sunday McDermott's concerns were also her own.

"Trump’s cognitive decline seems to be worsening," Mancuso wrote on X. "Even more concerning is his choice of a black and gold MAGA hat—a subtle but unmistakable nod to the Proud Boys."

Former President Donald Trump's running mate has Democratic jaws dropping after he suggested there was one thing his boss would never do.

Sen. J.D. Vance told rally attendees in Aston, Pennsylvania, on Sunday that the Republican presidential nominee always had championed Americans' right to freedom of speech — and always would.

"You know something Donald Trump will never do?" Vance said. "Donald Trump will never go out there and say that his fellow citizens should be censored or silenced for disagreeing with them."

Replied political commentator Justin Baragona, "Trump is literally demanding that CBS and ABC be taken off the air."

Trump and his allies have filed a complaint against CBS, sued ABC News and accused the Washington Post of illegally spreading propaganda supporting Vice President Kamala Harris.

At a Sunday campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump noted that the U.S. Secret Service had installed the ballistic glass following a previous failed assassination attempt.

"And I have a piece of glass over here, and I don't have a piece of glass there, and I have this piece of glass here," he opined. "But all we have really over here is the fake news, right?"

"And to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news, and I don't mind that so much," he continued. "I don't mind, I don't mind that."

Studies show reporters fear they'll be thrown in prison if Trump is reelected and have face violent threats at his rallies from supporters who tell journalists, "I hope you're dismembered."

As early as 2022, insiders were revealing Trump had been privately strategizing how to jail "significant numbers of reporters."

This may be why Mother Jones editor-in-chief David Corn expressed hesitancy to take Vance at his word.

"What a liar," Corn wrote on X. "Trump just calls his critics the enemy of the people and, thus, places a target on their backs. Not to mention his calls for executing or putting on trial his detractors."

Donald Trump Jr. predicted that Democrats would use a "magical truck filled with ballots" to cheat against his father, former President Donald Trump.

"You know what they're going to try to do," he insisted. "We've seen this playbook before, but this time we're prepared."

"Don't fall for the psyops," he continued. "You see this stuff, right? Half this stuff is designed to demoralize you, so you stay at home."

"So if we win decisively tomorrow, you don't give them a week to find that magical truck filled with ballots, right?" the former president's son added. "No one knows where they came from, but take back your country, America."
