There is no justice in America

There is no justice in America

Last week, I wrote about why Joe Biden and the Democrats are going to demolish the traitor, Donald Trump, and his morally busted, anti-American party of cowards in November.

The reasons for my confidence are many, and are rooted in what I see and feel from an activated electorate that will vote as if their rights and the future of our democracy depend on it — because they most certainly do.

The urgency and energy is palpable.

The political Left has held the high ground in the United States of America for the past seven years with grit and determination. We have bucked the rotten polls and both-sides press, and won countless key elections in every state. We have braved a pandemic and worked through fear and sickness to tend to the health of our ailing Democracy.

We watched in despair and disbelief during the most violent attack on our Capitol in more than 200 years, and shook our righteous fists in anger, because we knew for a fact the abhorrent Trump had finally gone way too far this time.

We knew that in a nation of laws, a brazen attack on our country simply could not stand. It was past time for the the most powerful law enforcement operation in the world, our Department of Justice, to deal with this evil bastard but quick.

His days were numbered ...

If only.

Instead, we were once again played for fools.

It has been 1,121 days since that dreadful attack, and not ONE lawmaker is in jail for aiding and abetting the insurrection. And that anti-American monster who led the violent coup attempt? Well, he’s still as free as a bird, stalking America’s heartland, threatening judges, running for office again, and eagerly rubbing his two little hands together with high hopes of destroying America for good.

It is absolutely infuriating, and try as I might, I just can’t let this go. And neither should you.

Ever.

We all saw what happened on January 6. Republicans, Democrats, Independents ... moms and dads … friends and foe … even Trump’s repulsive family, who begged him to call off the attack, while law enforcement officers were beaten, and our lawmakers were hunted down in our Capitol.

And can we pause right here to ponder why Trump’s loathsome children begged their odious father to call off the attack?

Because even they knew he caused this violent uprising.

So, armed with the knowledge that everybody in Trump’s inner circle knew for a fact he caused this textbook case of insurrection, what happened next?

Well, after three-plus hours of doing nothing but root for its success, we know that Trump finally relented, and tried to quiet all the dark voices that live inside his fat head. We know he pushed himself away from his TV in the White House dining room where he was watching his attack unfold, and huffed and puffed his way to the White House lawn, where he recorded a message to the nation in which he ordered his fascist thugs to go home — but not before telling them that he loved them.

This foul, disgusting man actually told the people who took a hammer to our country, and killed and beat on cops that he loved them ...

Once these gruesome thugs got the orders from General Mayhem to disperse, they packed up their ropes, flags, pepper spray, zip ties and radios into their duffle bags and hightailed it the hell out of town …

So, to repeat: 1) Trump called for the attack 2) Trump watched the attack 3) Trump rooted for the attack’s success 4) Trump finally relented and grudgingly stopped the attack.

Good grief, how damn hard would that be to prove in court?

Hell, it might be the easiest case ever.

Unless your attorney general is Merrick Garland.

Instead of moving with alacrity after his appointment to AG, and leveling the full weight of the law against the disgusting traitor, Garland made the decision to avoid the whole thing like Trump avoids vegetables.

He said little to nothing about it.

We waited.

It literally took the guy well over a year to give us even the slightest hint he was at all interested in doing his job, by bringing Trump and his lieutenants to justice.

Finally, on November 18, 2022, nearly two years after the attack on America, Garland, the grandmaster law-and-order expert carefully considered the board, and deftly put himself in check by pawning off his responsibility to somebody else.

Special Counsel Jack Smith was now on the case, and Garland was free to get back to whatever the hell it is that’s more important than the safety of our country.

Today, we are waiting for a trial that may or may not happen in March (or ever) and the entire fascist Republican Party “leadership” has been allowed to spin this like some political persecution for the past three years. Many of these “leaders” of course came out hard against Trump in the days and weeks following the attack, figuring like we did, that Trump had gone too damn far.

Even Trump’s Attorney General, Bill Barr, thought the guy who he so pathetically served had lost his damn mind, and got the hell out of dodge.

When the Republicans saw that the meek, mild Garland was shockingly more interested in hiding out in his office than doing his job, they reemerged from their holes to make a beeline to Mar-a-Lago bearing gifts and their apologies for ever doubting their orange idol.

Just incredible.

Most interesting to me is that Garland, almost more than anybody, should know just how ruthless the Republican Party can be.

On March 16, 2016, President Obama proudly nominated him to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court left by the death of conservative Antonin Scalia. It was a huge moment and a tremendous opportunity for Democrats to do some long-lasting, historic good for this nation.

Nobody knew this more than Mitch McConnell and the Republicans.

Obama actually went out of his way to nominate somebody who could get bipartisan support in the Senate. Many people forget that Garland was known as a political moderate, not a left-wing flamethrower. He actually drew the praise of scores of influential right-leaning politicians at the time such as then-Utah Senator Orrin Hatch.

Except as we know, McConnell and the dark forces who fill his coffers, weren’t having any of it, and refused to even give Garland a hearing in the Senate, with the faulty, despicable reasoning that because it was an election year, "the American people should have a say in the court's direction.”

We would later learn just how much the ruthless McConnell cared about the American people when Amy Coney Barrett shot through Senate confirmation just six weeks before the 2020 election, replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

When Obama and the Democrats inexplicably surrendered to the Republicans on this monumental issue, McConnell poured it on saying during an August, 2016, campaign appearance in Kentucky: "One of my proudest moments was when I looked Barack Obama in the eye and I said, 'Mr. President, you will not fill the Supreme Court vacancy.' "

Obama and the Democrats, of course, were still sure McConnell’s repulsive gambit would ultimately fail when Hillary Clinton beat the racist, no-good Trump in November.

Except that didn't happen either, and today, after Trump made an eye-opening three appointments, the 6-3 Conservative Supreme Court might be one of the most powerful forces for evil on Earth. Just ask America’s women and our disenfranchised voters what they think about that.

The cynic might say we shouldn’t be much surprised that the meek, ineffective Garland failed so miserably to bring the traitor, Trump, to justice. Could be, despite being embarrassed and bullied by McConnell, he wasn’t much interested in ruffling feathers. Could even be, Joe Biden wanted it this way, because like Obama his one fatal flaw is trusting that Republicans give a single damn about America.

This much we know: On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump attacked our country, tried to incinerate our votes, and remain in power. Fake electors were lining up in states across our country to overturn the election. Law enforcement officers were beaten to a pulp that day. He watched and did nothing. We were this close to losing our Democracy.

Today, 1,121 days since that attack, the very same people who coordinated it are free to try it again.

Just what in the hell is going on here?
