One Side: 'Civil War To Save The Country'

Enough of the bothsiderism already!

Ohio State Sen. George Lang (R-Butler) on Monday warned if Republicans lose the 2024 presidential election, “it’s going to take a civil war to save the country — and it will be saved.”

Lang was speaking at a rally in Middletown, OH, where Donald Trump’s running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) is “set to hold a hometown rally” and “his first solo appearance” since securing the Republican vice presidential nomination last week, NPR’s Stephen Fowler reports.

According to Fowler, Lang “kick[ed] things off” at the rally by warning of violence if Democrats win the presidential election.

"I believe wholeheartedly Donald Trump and Butler County's JD Vance are the last chance to save our country,” Lang said. “Politically, I'm afraid if we lose this one, it's going to take a civil war to save the country — and it will be saved.”

As Fowler notes, Ohio GOP Senate nominee Bernie Moreno also spoke at the Middletown rally, where he claimed Americans don’t know "who's in charge of this country".

“So far nobody's mentioned” Harris at the rally, Fowler reports.

One trick pony; Because there only policy, 2025, sucks.

According to CNN, in the 3-week scramble that followed last month’s presidential debate, “Trump’s team … orchestrated an exacting campaign around defeating Biden.”

"It included millions of dollars already spent on models to predict results in key battlegrounds, putting in place a sophisticated data operation and readying an advertising blitz to contrast the two candidates,” CNN reports. “It’s a campaign built around the assumption Trump would face an 81-year-old whose physical state and mental acuity had become such an albatross that enough voters would overlook the Republican nominee’s many flaws.”

In a think piece published on July 23, The Atlantic's Adrienne LaFrance addresses fears that political violence will "escalate" in the U.S. in the months ahead.

"These are poisonous days in our nation," LaFrance laments. "It is reasonable to worry that the attempt on Trump's life represents not the end of a cycle of violence, but an escalation in an era that has already seen a congresswoman shot in a supermarket parking lot, a congressman shot while playing baseball, and the U.S. Capitol stormed by insurrectionists."

LaFrance warns that a period of political violence could rock the U.S. for "a generation."

"Officials at the highest levels of the military and in the White House told me repeatedly that they believed the United States would see an increase in violent attacks as the 2024 presidential election drew near," LaFrance explains. "Other experts talked about pronounced danger in places where extremist groups had already emerged, where gun culture is thriving, and where hardcore partisans bump up against one another — especially in politically consequential states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Georgia."

The journalist adds, "Clearly, they were right in their warning. They further predicted that the current wave of violence would take a generation or longer to crest."

Can GOP state senator who warned of 'civil war' take those recorded comments back?

Ohio state senator George Lang (R-Butler) said "'it’s going to take a civil war to save the country" during 2024 GOP vice presidential nominee Senator J.D. Vance's "first solo" rally in his hometown of Middletown on Monday, the Republican leader "regrets" his warning.

US Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) responded to Lang's comments via X, writing, "Don’t say that. Not in Ohio. Not anywhere. No more political violence."

He added, "Win or lose, we’re all still in this together. Everyone must condemn this today to ensure this kind of rhetoric and thinking goes no where else."

According to Cincinnati television station WLWT, Lang on Monday night posted via X, saying he "regrets his 'divisive remarks.'"

Lang wrote: "Remarks I made earlier today at a rally in Middletown, do not accurately reflect my views. I regret the divisive remarks I made in excitement of the moment on stage. Especially in light of the assassination attempt on President Trump last week, we should all be mindful of what is said at political events, myself included."

It’s not that easy, these videos and images that feed the rabid right do not go away.
