I would like to know why Utahns are charged taxes on their Social Security and retirement income when we paid taxes on this money throughout our working years?

Several friends thinking of moving to Utah, while checking out condos in Salt Lake City, decided that Utah taxes were too high and they didn’t want to be taxed on their Social Security and retirement income.

We were informed that most states do not charge taxes on Social Security or their retirement income. Why are Utahns penalized for living in Utah?

While the State of Utah is working on the taxes, it should do away with taxing Social Security and retirement income.
