A Familiar Face Returns to Next Debate
The next Democratic debate won't be an all-white affair—and there will be somebody there to make the case for a universal basic income. Andrew Yang has become the seventh candidate to qualify for the Feb.7 debate in New Hampshire, which takes place just four days before the state's Democratic primary, NPR reports. Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and Tom Steyer have already qualified. Yang, who missed the January debate in Iowa, qualified for the February debate after topping the 5% mark in four DNC-approved polls, Politico reports. Tulsi Gabbard also has a chance of qualifying but Michael Bloomberg, who has passed the polling threshold, does not accept political contributions, meaning he will be unable to meet the requirement to receive donations from at least 225,000 individuals.
